You Call My Name

(Your soldier boy here is on medical leave these few days, so a blog post sounds like a good way to spend some free time. I’m going to talk about this new friend that I’ve made recently, and I shall link it to the movie / novel, “A Walk To Remember”. It does add a warm fuzzy feeling on rainy days.)

I like the way you call my name
Instead of how others we know do it:
You make it so much more personal
That it does bring a smile to my face;

I don’t remember the last time I walked anyone home
But we’ve only been out twice and I have already
Strolled you to your apartment as many times
That it feels natural and just the thing to do;

i like how loyal and genuine you are
Without the general pretence we see all around us:
It makes impressions and manipulated words look out of place
On a dinner table shared between me and you;

I think this is something different altogether
Just as how you’re someone quite different
From the usual crowd I see and hang out with
That slowly changes me into someone I never was;

You are doing this one thing no one has done before:
You make me want to be better.

A Moment In Time

(Just 5 minutes before bed)

All of us await one moment in life where
We are truly free and ourselves and can do what we want –
Regardless of what it is that we do or how we want to do it
There is a moment we all wait for: to be free and to be ourselves;

I don’t mean something simple like running away from overly protective parents
Or getting out of the restraining grip of school or society:
I mean one moment in time where we break free from all burdens and chains
To be who we and what we are – truly and without any repression;

The whole idea of delayed gratification or the classic ‘when I am / when I have..’
Is founded based upon this (distant) ideal of being totally free and at will
A state where there no longer is any force inhibiting us or holding us back
Where (and when) we run free and easy beyond what material can comfort;

This moment possibly will never come at all:
Yet we all know that we anchor our dreams upon this one moment in time
Created in the depths of our souls for the final gratification that is to come
Possibly a time and place where angels float amidst the heavenly spheres;

Are you waiting for such a moment?

Her

When I smell her hair,
I experience the scent of flowers blossoming in their full glory in spring time;

When I look upon her smile,
I sense the work of all the angels in the mighty Heavens above;

When I hear her voice,
I appreciate no melody sweeter alongside no bells more pleasant in chime;

When I taste her lips,
I savour every bit of them and indulge in a taste of paradise.

And Sparks Fly

It’s been a while since I last stayed up to watch a late night movie,

Alone in my room with a lil’ light and a sweater with a warm cup of tea,

Yet when I stuck the disc in and pressed play I didn’t know what to expect,

Would it be a film that is all cheesy and lacking in emotional depth?

But at four in the morning in the company of the serenity of the night,

I put on my headphones and began journeying through the love story,

One that is oh so sweet and romantic yet so sad at the same time,

Where a boy and a girl enter each other’s lives and Sparks began to fly,

The courtship and romance was good and  felt never ending while it lasted,

A love so simple and beautiful that it leaves people with tear-welled eyes and warm hearts,

But sadly their love on earth was swift to expire when the girl was taken away only too soon,

Leaving behind the boy to spend lonely nights pinning for her under the lonesome moon,

Before we all go sad and cry together with our boy Landon for our girl Jamie,

Let us all understand that time may have passed but moments live on forever,

And for always Jamie will live on in the heart and memories of Landon who loved her,

For no one had he loved more and learnt more than from this angel who was his girl;

As for the girl who recommended and passed me the movie to watch,

I hope she does not set the standards of romance and courtship to be this high,

For if she really does take the sweetness of A Walk To Remember as her idea of love and romance,

Then winning her heart perhaps is something many simply would not even dare to try.
